Denver Botanic Gardens

Before I mention our little excursion to the Denver Botanic Gardens, I just have to mention how much fun we all had today on Skype. We 'Skype' our parents and my brother and sister in law and their two kids on a weekly basis. This morning, we Skyped Jan and Lois who were sitting on a beach in St Bart's enjoying the sunshine. This afternoon, we Skyped my mom and dad who were in Pennsylvania visiting some wonderful family friends, my Aunt My and Uncle John, and grandmom. Elizabeth got to see her Great Grandmom for the first time in almost a year. This evening we Skyped Michael, Courtney, Avery and Madeline. Michael and Courtney were busy getting ready for an evening outing so Elizabeth, myself and Avery and Madeline had a little 'dance party' via Skype for over a half hour! We had so much fun dancing around to 'I like to move it move it' and I will never forget Avery and Madeline's moves! Those girls can dance. Elizabeth was totally enthralled with watching her cousins and joining in the dancing that she didn't want to stop. But the 'party' was over when Michael returned to find Madeline jumping on the leather couch with her shoes on and Avery spinning herself dizzy on the office chair. Talk about a great party!
Friday was such a beautiful Colorado day that Elizabeth and mommy decided to enjoy the Denver Botanic Gardens. What a great place to take pictures! There are so many textures and colors at the gardens, making it a photography paradise! The only problem was that there were hundreds of middle school kids running around, I was pushing a stroller and trying to keep up with a very curious 22 month-old. The gardens are not very child proof ... open water features, steps and surface changes everywhere, making it a full time job to keep up with Elizabeth. However, I did manage to get a few good shots!

Elizabeth loves rocks and dirt. Every time she sees little pebbles, she has to pick the up and run them through her fingers. She also likes to put a few in her pocket or in the diaper bag to save them for later. Considering the fact that her mommy collects water, maybe the apple does not fall far from the tree!

One of the Garden highlights was the dinosaurs. Who knew that botanic gardens had cool dinos! I think they were temporarily there as the flowers were a bit lacking. Elizabeth was thrilled at their presence and couldn't waite to go find more dinosaurs throughout the garden.

And as always, the fish were a big hit. Funny enough, Elizabeth barely noticed the flowers but the fish and dinosaurs made for a great outing!
